Volunteer positions can be educational and lead to a full time paid position in the same field. You not only get a feel for the field, you often get free training and other perks by volunteering. You get to help your community out and volunteer time can be put on your resume along with all the training you may attend. If you have time, I highly recommend you consider signing up to volunteer that time.
